What is NanoSpins?

NanoSpins is an open-source online wheel spinner. You create a wheel with your own options (names, prizes, tasks, dinners…), spin it and get a random result. It runs in the browser, with nothing to install and no account needed.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up?

Yes, it is 100% free and requires no registration or account. There are no per-wheel option limits beyond the minimum of 2, and no paid features.

How does the wheel pick the winner?

The winner is decided by the server, not the browser: every spin sends a request and the backend runs a weighted random draw. This makes it impossible to manipulate the outcome from the client.

What are option weights for?

A weight multiplies an option’s chances of winning. With weights 3 and 1, the first is three times more likely than the second. If every option has the same weight, all are equally likely.

What does “Same size” mean?

It is a visual option that draws every segment with the same angle even when weights differ. Careful: weights still decide the server-side result; segment size is purely cosmetic.

Who can edit or delete a wheel?

Only whoever holds the edit token generated when the wheel is created with protection enabled. Without the token, the wheel is read-only and anyone can only duplicate it to get their own editable copy.

How do I share my wheel?

Every wheel has a direct public link. You can mark it as public (listed in the gallery) or private (reachable only via the link). Anyone with the link can spin it without an account.

Where are my wheels stored?

The wheel is stored on the server. The edit token and the “My wheels” list live in your browser’s local storage: clearing it or switching devices loses your edit access.

Is spin history kept?

Yes, two of them: “Your spins” (your session in that browser, exportable and clearable) and “Recent spins” (the wheel’s global history). Clearing your history does not affect the global one or other users.

Is there a spin limit?

Yes: 30 spins per minute and IP address to prevent automated abuse. Past that limit, the site shows a notice and you have to wait a few seconds.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The interface is responsive and works in any modern desktop, tablet or mobile browser, in both light and dark mode.

Which languages are available?

Currently Spanish and English, with the same feature set in both. Switch languages from the header picker.

Is it open source?

Yes, NanoSpins is free software under the MIT license. The backend is built with FastAPI and the frontend with Astro, React and Tailwind CSS.
